Montana Families Trust - Pooled Trust

Put Your Trust In Us

WHAT IS MFT?
Montana Families Trust (MFT) is a pooled asset special needs trust administered by RDI Financial Wellness. MFT allows individuals with disabilities to preserve their eligibility for public benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), while protecting their assets and improving their quality of life.

Established in compliance with Social Security rules under 42 U.S.C. §1396p(d)(4)(C), MFT enables individuals to save funds without needing to "spend down" on unnecessary items to maintain benefit eligibility.

IS MFT RIGHT FOR ME?

  • I am (or care for) someone with a disability who has too many assets to stay eligible for Medicaid or SSI.
  • I want to protect those assets and use them to improve quality of life.
  • I want to avoid unnecessary spending to remain eligible for benefits.
  • I need a reliable, nonprofit-administered trust that simplifies the process and offers personalized support.
  • MFT accounts can be established by the individual with a disability, a parent, grandparent, legal guardian, or by court order.

KEY FEATURES

  • Nonprofit Administration: Managed by RDI Financial Wellness, a Montana-based nonprofit dedicated to financial empowerment since 1968.
  • Low Fees & Accessibility: Low minimum deposit, enroll for as low as $350.00.
  • Professional Management: Trust funds are professionally invested, with each beneficiary’s share accounted for separately.
  • Dedicated Support: Our experienced team offers guidance on benefit coordination, fund usage, and trust management.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Beneficiary funds are pooled for investment, increasing earning potential while maintaining individual accounting.
  • Funds can be used to supplement but not replace benefits—paying for items and services that improve quality of life.
  • Upon the beneficiary’s passing, any remaining funds may be retained by MFT to support other individuals with disabilities across Montana.
